a2 Theatre Intensive

22-26 September 10am-4pm at Rātā Studios, Scots College, Wellington.

A crash course in how to find your voice as a professional actor and artist for 14 to 21 year-olds, lead by Ben Ashby and the a2 Company.

Ben Ashby is one of Aotearoa’s most exciting young acting coaches. For his work with young actors he has won the Wellington Theatre “Artistic Leadership” award, and the Performing Arts and Young People Aotearoa “Emerging Artist” award.

Ben’s only been teaching since 2020, but many of his students have already gone on to be accepted into the top acting schools in Aotearoa, and landed roles on TVNZ and the NZ Theatre mainstages.

Using the process and practices that made their Internationally award-winning show Running into the Sun, Ben and the rest of the a2 Company are taking a week out of their NZ National tour to teach acting techniques and creative skills essential to make a career in the performing arts.

Throughout the week you will work with professional actors, musicians, dancers, directors, and designers for a fully rounded crash course in making professional theatre in NZ. On Friday afternoon there will be a showcase for friends and whanau.
